After finishing my first post-graduate role in branding, I wanted to broaden my corporate experience. media consulta (mc Group) caught my attention because of its diverse, international client base. When I saw an opening for an Assistant to the CEO, I jumped at the chance to gain firsthand insights into high-level decision-making across multiple agency departments.

I joined with the hope of not only improving my strategic and organizational skills, but also helping modernize mc Group’s internal processes and leadership style.

The agency was looking to secure new international accounts and renew its growth trajectory, and I was eager to contribute from an executive vantage point.

The Journey

In this role, I worked closely with the CEO, in a consulting capacity, focusing on strategic research, interdepartmental coordination, and sometimes mediating between the leadership team and staff. Unlike a typical personal assistant, I was more involved in business operations: overseeing pitch preparations, giving input on corporate presentations, and guiding executive decisions when the CEO was unavailable.

Serving as a connections between employees and top leadership, I helped bridge communication gaps and boost motivation in a high-pressure environment.

There were challenges. The agency’s rapid shifts in scheduling and direction often left departments scrambling. My task was to maintain a diplomatic balance—ensuring the CEO’s goals were met while respecting team workloads and perspectives. I also encouraged the CEO to look ahead on digital transformation and brand consistency, especially given mc Group’s work with global clients in regions like the Middle East and China.

The Impact

By facilitating better communication and aligning internal processes, I strengthened relationships between the executive office and various departments. We won some key pitches, likely aided by more streamlined oversight and faster decision-making. My role also contributed to a modest rise in employee satisfaction, as staff saw their concerns heard at the highest level.

Integrating modernized workflows and initiating projects like the “mc Academy” helped the agency refine its internal culture and address ongoing training needs.

On a personal level, the position underscored the power of open dialogue and diplomacy — values I carry into every branding project today. While the corporate focus was enlightening, it also reinforced my passion for creative brand development. Ultimately, my experience at mc Group showed me how vital it is for leaders to stay adaptable, forward-looking, and genuinely connected to their teams.
